Luster: non-metallic, often glassy

Streak: pale green to white.

Crystal Form: monoclinic

Cleavage: 2 directions, not at 90 degrees

Hardness: Harder than glass, not as hard as quartz

Density: slightly above average

Other distinguishing features:  sometimes forms splintery or wedge-shaped fragments
