University 4000 - Contemporary International Cultures

This course studies the contemporary culture of a country. The student gains first hand knowledge of life and living conditions in the developing world through a service project that in the past has involved the construction of affordable housing for low income families. The program has brought students and attending faculty to diverse locations in Central America, Eastern Europe and Asia. GSW students have explored the literature, language, music, philosophy, religion, science, education, art, politics, history, healthcare, and economics of places as varied as Costa Rica, El Salvador, China, and Romania.
