About Myself

I am an assistant professor in Department of Mathematics in the School of Computing and Mathematics at Georgia Southwestern State University. I received my Ph. D. in Mathematics from Department of Mathematics , The Ohio State University under the supervision of Dr. Michael Davis . Here is a link to my dissertation. You may contact me at: qi@canes.gsw.edu

Publications and Talks

Here is a list of my publications, some conference and seminar talks. My recent work on Coxeter groups is included in

A note on parabolic subgroups of a Coxeter group;

On irreducible, infinite, nonaffine Coxeter groups;

A note on irreducible, infinite Coxeter groups.

The following is a link to one of my joint work on the numerical study of some bifurcation diagrams of quadratic differential systems.

Some bifurcation diagrams for limit cycles of quadratic differential systems.

About my research and teaching

My research interests include geometric group theory (specifically, Coxeter groups and metric spaces of non-positive curvature) and dynamical systems (specifically, bifurcations of vector fields).

At Georgia Southwestern, I am teaching a wide range of mathematics courses, including college algebra, precalculus, calculus, elementary statistics, linear algebra, discrete systems, scientific computation, modern geometry and number theory. The "modern geometry" and "number theory" courses are designed for pre-service teachers. They provide good training, concrete and interesting materials for students to learn to write mathematical proofs seriously.

At Ohio State, I taught several calculus sequences, some precalculus courses and a discrete math course. I taught introductory courses of complex analysis and differential equations to engineering students at Peking University in China.
