ENGL 4115 Medieval English Literature

Course Description
Focused
study in an area of medieval English literature, such as Chaucer, Anglo-Saxon
heroic poetry, or Arthurian literature. Some
of the course reading will be in either Old of Middle English depending upon the
specific topic of the course.

Objectives
- Investigate the
literature of medieval England.
- Trace
the early development of English as a language.
- Differentiate
medieval English literary genres.
- Synthesize
close reading and critical theory as tools for the analysis and evaluation
of medieval literature.
