This survey course of British Literature from
the medieval period to the present will give students an overview of their

influenced the development of the English language and its literature,
and will help them investigate standards for analysis and evaluation of
literature in general.

skills acquired in ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102, albeit in a more independent
context.
Introduce students to the literary heritage
of British English, which is our American English heritage, as well.

the written word, particularly literature.
