FUNGI
The Kingdom Fungi is poorly represented in the fossil record. A few spores are known, and decay- and disease-causing fungi have left trace fossils in plant and animal fossils, but so few body fossils exist that fungi are generally not useful as geological tools.
On the other hand, geologists make other uses of fungi, as the picture below illustrates.
